Welcome! I look forward to getting to know you. My approach is warm, collaborative, and encouraging, and I strive to create a safe, supportive therapeutic space. I believe insight is important, but equally important is action that results in change. I provide practical tools and approaches, encouraging my clients to “try on” new ways of thinking about themselves and what’s possible.

One of the major underlying tenets of my work is the power of neuroplasticity — the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. The brain is literally remodeled through life experiences and new thought patterns and behavior. When we practice new ways of thinking and acting, our old, unhelpful patterns fade.

I also place a lot of importance on continuously educating myself. I love learning about new ideas related to psychology, neuroscience, and mindfulness, and am always thinking about how these ideas can help my clients.

My Background and Education

I bring a unique skill set and life experience to my work. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I enjoyed a successful career in the corporate world for many years. I developed business vision and strategies and led teams to achieve business goals. I love bringing this same strategic approach and results-orientation to my work with my clients, helping them create a vision for themselves and working with them toward their vision.

I earned a BA from Knox College where I majored in Mathematics and Economics, graduating summa cum laude. I then earned an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. I spent the next 18 years in brand management leadership roles at Procter & Gamble, Kraft, Quaker Oats, and PepsiCo, and as an independent marketing strategy consultant. Throughout my career I had been involved in the community as a volunteer and non-profit board member and felt really gratified by this work.

While I enjoyed my time in the business world, I realized I wanted to transition to a career focused on making a difference in others’ lives on a personal level, just as I had through my volunteer work. I returned to graduate school and earned an MA in Counseling from Northwestern University, graduating with academic distinction. I received my clinical training at Turning Point Mental Health Center, Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health, and the Family Institute at Northwestern University. I then gained valuable experience as a clinician in a group private practice prior to opening my own private practice. I feel deeply satisfied that my purpose is to help people discover how they can live more peaceful, meaningful, fulfilling lives.
